Day 255 - Last Day in Delhi - Flight to Bangkok

Tuesday, March 19th. 2019.

I really wanted to stay in the hotel all morning but we had to leave early to pick up the things we had left at our friend's apartment. We left several bags of clothing and souvenirs because our suitcases were going to be too heavy for the Indian domestic airlines.

Gregory and I left our hotel at 9:00am and it took an hour to arrive at Xe’s home. We met with Eva, his mom, for a coffee. I was nervous because Xe walked us to a coffee place far from his home, and we didn’t have much time. We had a good time catching up with Eva, but I was very anxious because now we were late to pick up the kids. First, the Uber driver could not find us, and when he did, he canceled! I wanted to kill him. Later, he took the wrong turn, making us even later to pick up the kids at the hotel.

We finally made it to the hotel and we told him to wait
while we got the suitcases so he could drive us to the airport. [Gregory's note: I asked if he could drive us to the airport so we wouldn't have to wait for another driver, even though I was upset that this guy was already 15 minutes late. When I asked if he could drive us to the airport, he agreed.]

When I came back out, he told me that he couldn’t take us. I asked why. I opened his trunk and what do I see? A natural gas tank taking up the entire trunk space. I yelled at him and said, "Why did you agree before?" I even get mad writing about it!

He canceled and Gregory requested another Uber. At the front office, they offered us to call a taxi but we did not have any cash because Gregory does not like to leave with any foreign currency on our last day. Yes, I wanted to kill him, too. We were both getting stressed. He told me we had enough time but I was still very stressed because I like to leave plenty of time for the airport.

We waited for the second Uber at the corner of the main street. It finally came. We made it to the airport a little before 1:00pm. Not bad for our 3:30pm flight! We even had time to go eat in the airport lounge. It had so much food but my stomach was still not feeling great. We left the lounge at boarding time and when they checked our tickets, they pulled us aside and had us wait. I was worried! They ended up upgrading us to business class! We couldn’t believe it but we were not going to complain. The kids were thrilled, especially Daniel. We loved the extra space and delicious food. The flight was very pleasant. Daniel and Gregory said it was too short!

We arrived in Bangkok and everything looked so new and clean! Ahhh! We breathed, finally out of India, clean and humid air! Our suitcases never arrived because they were checked all the way to Myanmar. Good thing we had our toothbrushes in our backpacks. We didn’t care really. Gregory and I were happy not to have to carry our suitcases. The hotel was simple but clean and pleasant. I was able to take a nice shower. Gregory and Sunshine went out for food while Daniel and I rested. The kids wanted to stay in Bangkok longer, but we are coming back so we won't bother seeing the town tomorrow.
