Day 132 - Plovdiv, Bulgaria

Sunday, November 11th, 2018.

We got up late, it is Sunday after all. Ok, I got up late, not the rest of the family, which is rare. We stayed home all morning and around noon, I told everybody to start getting ready so we could leave the house and take the free walking tour at 2:00pm. We finally did, walk downtown, grabbed something light to eat before the tour. We started the tour at the City Hall with many other tourists. Many from Spain. Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It is claimed that the city is a contemporary of Troy and Mycenae, but it is more ancient than Rome, Athens, and Constantinople

A historic event, French author LaMartin was going to visit Plovdiv and many of the wealthy merchants wanted to host him. They made a competition and the one who would get there first at the entrance and tap his shoulder would win. The owner of this house won and the French author wrote about it in his travel book.

Roman Theater rebuilt after finding many of the pieces.

An amazing reconstruction of a Roman theater.

Let's make a silly face

Saints Constantine and Helena Orthodox Church. It had amazing icons in the interior.

The outside of the Orthodox church exterior had also frescoes.

Making silly faces. We are trying to get a unique picture so we can do it everywhere we go!

We didn't see a lot of beggars, mostly people singing or playing instruments to get spare change.

Viva Leon, Gto, Mexico, my hometown!

At the end of the day, we stopped for our traditional cappuccino, this time in front of the Roman stadium

Again, trying to do something silly or unique for our family selfies!
