Day 119 - Homeschool morning - Prishtina

Monday, October 29th, 2018.

We got up late because we were all still tired from the long bus drive. We were in the mood of staying home, plus Sunshine had homework to do. I really enjoyed reading the history of Kosovo with Daniel. We snuggled up with a blanket and learned about this country which gained its independence in 2008. We learned about another ethnicity war in 1999 and about its language and culture. Daniel is really into learning Cyrillic, so we also reviewed the Macedonic alphabet because our next destination is Macedonia.

We had a light lunch and then we finally left the apartment around 3:00pm to explore the old town, plus we wanted to go to a bigger grocery store to buy ingredients to bake cookies for Halloween. We went to the main street called Nene Teresa in honor of Mother Theresa who was Albanian, and here in Kosovo, there are many of them! We found a very cool cafe, Lulu where the kids got excited to get a smoothie and me a tea since my stomach was hurting all day long. After our warm drink and walking in this main street full of life and stands of ice cream, popcorn, and nuts, we went to the grocery store. It was fun to let the kids look for the ingredients and figure out everything by themselves.
When we got home, Daniel and I did breaded chicken, mostly because Daniel was in the mood. I'm very proud of him for wanting to get in the kitchen and motivate me to cook new recipes. He is the one researching and wanting to buy different ingredients to do them at home. The chicken turned out ok, not great but I told him that we were practicing and that each time it would get better. After dinner, each of us did their own thing on their computers.

Some advantage of homeschooling is to snuggle in the couch!

We found a Cafe called Moving Bar that was on the top of a building, we took the elevator and had a nice view of part of the city.

Our apartment was in front of those two smokestacks.

I think Pristina has a lot of ugly buildings!
