Day 111 - First day in Sarajevo
Sunday, October 21st, 2018.
Today we were woken up by Mattie and Moose at 5:20am. I think it was Mattie who gave a little cry and Gregory got up to pat her and make her feel OK. Kelsey and Rocco had left to the airport to take a flight to London. We are in charge of sitting two dogs for 9 days.
I have to say that I'm very happy that Gregory applied to dog sit in Bosnia and grateful that Kelsey and Rocco chose us to sit. Otherwise, I don't think we ever would have traveled to this beautiful, raw country. A lot of people still think there's a war here. I even asked Gregory if he had checked if it was safe. The truth is, it is a beautiful and amazing country, full of very real and friendly people. I would recommend it in a second. Of course, now that it's mid-October, it is cold all and it's time to get out the jackets! The places that we have visited here are beautiful, clean and inexpensive.
Anyway, after the dogs woke us up, we went back to sleep and woke up at 8:30. The best part was that the heat was on. Rocco told us that they couldn't control the heat because it was an old building and the heat was controlled by the city. He thinks it's a holdover from the Communist past. I just cannot imagine living like that. Last night I was freezing.
Gregory and Daniel walked the dogs in the morning and went to buy breakfast. Sunshine and I stayed home and enjoyed ourselves. It was a perfect day to stay home and watch a movie in pajamas. I don't think I have done that in years! We watched The Terminal with Tom Hanks. What a great actor. We loved it!
After that, Gregory and I went to the "real" market to get fresh fruit and vegetables, definitely cheaper and better quality than in the supermarket. Afterward, we went to the supermarket and got some supplies. It was cold and rainy. We had lunch and cleaned the house a bit, mostly because it was covered with dog hair. In the afternoon, Gregory and Sunshine walked the dog, Mattie didn't want to go. Kelsey told us to expect this behavior and not to force her. It is like having a teenage girl again, ha, ha ha!
It was a nice quiet Sunday in Sarajevo. Gregory doing research on where we were going next, Sunshine reading, Daniel working on his Youtube videos and me, writing.
