Day 84 - Sunday at home

Sunday, September 24, 2018.

Today we stayed home. We stayed in our pajamas all morning, packing, reading and just hanging around the house. After lunch, Gregory and Sunshine went to the plaza where there was a huge garage sale. When they came home they told me that I could probably find a good pair of sunglasses for very good prices. I really wanted to go but La Nonna was very talkative and I didn't want to be rude. She told me all kinds of stories in Italian. I was proud to realize that I actually understood everything. It was definitely an intense course of Italian. Around 5:00pm, we decided to get out of the house and go to Fiesole. I asked Cinzia if she could stop the car for me at the garage sale and she did. I got so excited to see how many stands there were and with lots of good stuff. I really wanted to look around but Cinzia and Lavinia were waiting for us in the car. They didn't want to get out of the car and look, they said that they would never buy used stuff. If they knew how much Sunshine and I enjoy going to second-hand stores! I couldn't resist and I bought a dress and a 1 euro pair of sunglasses!

After my successful shopping, we drove to Firenze to have "the best gelato in Florence". I have to say, yes it was delicious. The name of the gelateria was Badiani and it was mobbed but luckily the lines moved fast. We enjoyed our gelato and then Cinzia stopped in one clothing store were Sunshine bought a pair of pants. Really we shouldn't be buying clothes, more like getting rid of some but after 3 months of wearing over and over the same clothes, and being with a fashionista Italian teenager, I could tell that she needed something fashionable.

After that, we went to Fiesole but I'm not sure what happened that we didn't go to the mirador. Cinzia said there wasn't parking but I think it was more like the girls didn't want to climb up the hill. Bummer because it is a beautiful view. We went home and had dinner. Before going to bed we said goodbye to Andrea and Lavinia who were leaving early next morning but then we told them that we would get up and say our goodbyes in the morning!
