Day 66 - Date Night in Venice!
Wednesday, September 5th, 2018.
Today we all wanted to stay home. We were exhausted and Sunshine pleaded to not go into town. She actually slept all morning because she wasn't feeling well. I wanted her to catch up on school work but her health comes first. Gregory spent a good amount of time downloading one of Sunshine's online books because apparently you are supposed to be located in the US to be able to download. Thank God we are traveling with an IT guru because there is no way I would have figured it out. I would probably be carrying the heavy textbooks.
Daniel is so organized and motivated that I don't even have to tell him what to do. He is worried about falling behind but I know that he will be fine.
I finally had a chance to sit down and read what I wanted. The history of Venice is fascinating. We had a great meal outside in our beautiful backyard and I took a nap. We need more days like this.
In the evening, Gregory and I went back to Venice for a date! It was just so weird to walk to the bus stop and be in Venice in 20 minutes. This time we went to Canareggio for dinner and then walked through the old ghetto. It was almost empty. We saw a few tourists near the hotels bust mostly locals in the bars and restaurants. We had a lovely time. We found a street lined with bars with a good hundred people sitting out front drinking. We joined them for a spritz, just sitting on the steps down to the water.
Around 11:00pm, I got anxious and decided to go back to the bus stop. The last bus is after midnight but we always seem to get lost in this city that seems to me like a complicated maze. We walked fast, I hurt my ankle, but made it on time for the 11:30pm bus which was full to the point that Gregory had to stand. We made it home at midnight and the kids were in bed.
Lovely day, lovely night, so happy to reconnect with my sweetie (we truly needed it) and so happy to be doing this trip with my family. Life is beautiful!
