Day 55 Nice- Day at the Beach
Saturday, August 25, 2018.
Today Daniel woke us up at 7:15am because we had agreed to go to the beach early in order to avoid the heat of the sun. We did it, we left the house by 9:00 and I prepared baguette
sandwiches for lunch. If felt good to have extra time. We made it to the beach by 10:00am and it was already hot. I have to say that we are very spoiled in Mexico with our beautiful sandy beaches. Here the pebbles are really hard to walk on plus there was litter everywhere. You could see cigarette butts and trash everywhere. We sat there for a while and then I went swimming with Daniel. The water was warm and it felt great to swim but you couldn't see any fishes like in Marseille, bummer.
We had our baguettes by noon and after that, we went to the Museum of Photography, which was actually just a photo gallery of landscapes by an Italian photographer. It was ok, nothing great or wow but at least we got to sit in the air conditioning and use a clean bathroom. I was glad we didn't pay for it (entry was included with the Matisse museum ticket).
When we came out, we saw a lot of stands of old books, postal cards, old pictures and more. We would have stayed longer if it wasn't for the heat. So we walked to the nearest ice cream shop for a break. We sat there for a while, then went looking for a knife shop for Gregory, then home. We stopped at the grocery store, which sometimes can be a challenge for the kids in deciding what flavor of ice cream to get! I know, the challenges we face, huh?
