Dy 161 - Aqaba- looking for a place to stay!

Tuesday, December 11th, 2018.

What a day! Well, I decided to take a French bath and not use the shower to avoid getting the bathroom wet. The kids happily skipped the shower. Gregory decided to clean afterward. We had our breakfast in the living room, using the coffee table as our dining table. I found two big bowls that we used for the yogurt. Daniel and Sunshine are bored of yogurt so they had fruit, pita, and peanut butter. No big deal, we are looking for a new place today. Everything will be better. We left the apartment around 11:30 am to look for a list of hotels that we made. The kids stayed home doing homework.
Gregory and I got distracted when we saw a castle which it was closed. Then we stopped by the information office and we met a nice man who gave brochures of places to visit in Jordan. He recommended us to look for a furnished apartment in the area to rent. Well, we did look and all of them looked very depressing. All of them were old, the furniture in bad shape, and they looked dirty. I was very frustrated because we were not finding anything for our price range. I started to cry, a sign that I was hungry. We stopped for a quick fast food lunch and then continued the search. We went to the hotel area where the places definitely looked better but everything was more than our budget. Gregory reminded me that in Israel we paid $60 a night and that we shouldn't pay more in Jordan where everything is supposed to be cheaper.
I almost accepted another crappy apartment because we were running out of options when Gregory saw a hidden hotel. We went to see it and bingo, it was perfect. It wasn't luxurious, the kitchen not so great but at least it had a decent bathroom and spacious for 45 JD (Jordan dinar) a night. We told the guy that we would be back tomorrow morning. We still went and looked at two more hotels that were nicer but didn't have a kitchen or a stove which we need for meals. At least we found something better. I'm just worried that from now on all the places are going to be like this one for our budget. This new place is going to be the first one that it doesn't have a washing machine and a drying rack!
When we came back, the kids were in pajamas and using their devices, of course. For lunch, Daniel had to boil the pasta in a small teapot (while Sunshine was a lazy egg and sat on her iPad asking for more pasta). He had to boil small quantities at a time. At least I had brought a bag of pasta and a jar of pesto from Isreal. It is wise to carry some food and a toilet paper because you never know what you will be missing in your next home.
We stayed home the rest of the day and I took a long nap. Later we went out for dinner. At least I'm not cooking!

Our bathroom, notice the shower, fun!

I'm not sure if the signs are much help!
