Mother Theresa monument. She was born in Skopje in 1910. |

Memorial House of Mother Teresa. This is not where her house was but they built a memorial museum in her honor. There's gallery, a chapel and amphitheater, and a souvenir shop. We will have to come back later with more time. |

Monument to Fallen heroes for Macedonia. You can come to Skopje and see all the famous monuments of Europe in one square like the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. |

Fountain to honor Olympia, Alexander the Great's Mother. Each statue represents his mother during Alexander childhood. Macedonia, Greece are not happy that they have borrowed their hero!

I personally think the statue is pretty but unfortunately, the guide told us that they used cheap material to build the statues (somehow the money disappeared) and now they are seeing the consequences.

The fortress commonly referred to as Kale(from kale, the Turkish word for 'fortress'), is a historic fortress located in the old town of Skopje The first fortress was built in 6th century. |

From the top of the hill, you can get a nice view of the city. Way behind you can see a huge cross. You can take a half an hour bus to see it and have an even better view of the city.

The Hero and his Horse is the name of the statue behind us. There has been a fight going on between this Macedonia and Macedonia, Greece. They don't like the fact that they have the same name and that they are using their heroes, their greek architecture and who knows what else... |
