Day 95 - Zadar- Belgrad- Pasman
Thursday, October 4th, 2018.
I like it when we have plans for the day because everyone gets up early and going. We had breakfast and walked to the bus station to take the 10:00am bus. When we got there to buy the tickets, the lady in the office asked me if I wanted the tickets for the 9:45am bus that was leaving right then or the 10:30am. I looked at Gregory, puzzled, who told me that the schedule online is only a suggestion. We bought the tickets for the 9:45 and ran to the bus. It took half an hour to make it to Belgrad, a small city where we had dinner at the Yacht Club with the Rotary Club. We met with Gordon, who is a Rotarian and has a boat business there! He was kind to get us a boat and told us that we only had to pay for the skipper because he wasn't available! We were thrilled! We walked to the bay where we met our captain and took some pictures for record of course!
Our captain's name was Duje. He was young and well traveled. He asked if anyone knew how to sail. Gregory said he did so he gave him the wheel. Gulp, it brought back to me memories when we sailed in our honeymoon and he turned so fast that I flew off the boat! I had to tell that story because that's what I was thinking! While we sailed, we sat in the sun chatting with Duje about places to visit in Croatia. I wrote down the many cities that he recommended. He was happy to hear that our next destination is Split where he came from!
After an hour of sailing, Gregory told Duje that we wanted to go to an island where the kids could swim. He took us to Pasman. It was so beautiful and almost private. There were 3 local boats.
Sunshine and Daniel jumped into the water which was very cold. Gregory and I decided to stay warm and dry! After a while, the kids came out and tried to warm up. We had a fantastic day and it was time to return home. I got a little dizzy on the way back home. We thanked Duje and wished him good luck with the birth of his second daughter who was going to happen that day (luckily he didn't get the call while we were on the boat.)
We walked in the small town of Belgrad, found a small cafe in front of the bay and had a refreshing soda. After that, we walked to the bus station and hopped in the bus to Zadar. Sunshine and I sat on the sunny side where we could see the ocean and the trees. It is an interesting view because some of the houses are big, some of them small, a lot of them are not painted, you only see the concrete. It looks like it is starting to get modernized but then you arrive in Zadar, which is a bigger city and you find the big shopping mall, the banks, many modern cafes, and restaurants.
We walked back home with happy hearts. We were all tired from a full day of sea and sun. We had dinner and watched a movie! It seems like we are in a very loooong vacation!
