Day 103 - Last day in Split
Friday, October 12, 2018.
We stayed all morning at home mostly because Sunshine had to do homework. I was upset with myself because I was going to go for a walk by the sea or at least in beautiful Marjan park that we never went back to. Unfortunately, I did laundry and tried to catch up on the blog. If I don't publish right away, it's because Gregory has to proofread it first, which why I also get behind. [Gregory's note: that's an exaggeration. If she gets behind, it's because she gets distracted and doesn't write the blog]
In any case, I felt like I wasted my gorgeous sunny day inside. Around 1:00pm Daniel and I started lunch. He was so proud to make chicken teriyaki from a video that he had seen. It was pretty good and Sunshine said, "that's one of the best meals we have had in a while."
We finally left the house around 2:00 to explore the city. We were hesitant about doing a walking tour but we had read pretty much the story of Split and the palace. We just walked around the city, finding places we hadn't seen. The town is like a labyrinth! We saw the temple of Jupiter, well from outside -- luckily, a lady leaving told us not to pay because it wasn't worth it. She recommended the cathedral, but again, we don't pay to see churches.
We sent the kids for ice cream and Gregory and I went to a very local, hard-to-find bar he had read about called Dioklecijan or Tri Volta for a glass of wine (him) and a coffee (me). After that, the kids came to find us and we walked by the water. We said goodbye to Split and went home to pack -- the ferry leaves at 7:40 in the morning!
