Today we got up without having a plan and when that happens, I just know that we won't leave the house early. When Gregory checked the ferry schedule, he told us that we missed the ferry to some of the islands that we wanted to visit. It is hard to make plans when you feel that you are on vacation because you kind of want to make plans but at the same time, you don't want to do all the planning, buying the food to make the lunches, etc.
Instead, we decided to visit Trogir, which is a well-preserved medieval town with a mix of Renaissance, baroque and Romanesque buildings. The city lies on a small island but is connected to the mainland and that's why you can get there by bus. We took the bus and in half an hour we were in this beautiful little town. I don't know why, but we were all tired and Sunshine wasn't feeling great so we walked a little and we soon sat down for a coffee and gelato, even before lunch. Normally we at least have lunch first.
After our drinks, we walked the whole town and discovered the Cathedral of St. Lawrence which was built in the 13th century and where you can see the Venetian and Renaissance influence. We have decided not to pay to visit any more churches so we exited the medieval walls and walked to the port. There wasn't really a beach, but we found some palms near the water and sat there to read our books. Daniel skipped stones for a while. When it was lunch time, we went back to the old town for food. The restaurants here are too expensive for our daily budget ($20 per person) but if you are patient, you can find very yummy local food. We had fish and chips, Greek salad and pizza for 90 kunas, that's like $13. We even had the amazing view because we took our food to a bench in front of the sea!
After lunch, we walked some more by the port. We saw a couple on a paddleboard. Gregory thought they looked like people we had seen the day before in Split, so we asked and in fact, it was the same couple, paddleboarding the coast! I took some nice pictures of Sunshine, read and walked back to the bus station. At the bus station, I saw a girl that we had seen in Split (I recognized her Converse shoes and her violin). I had to ask her if she had been in Split last night and she confirmed! What a tiny world. Who knows how many people we keep crossing paths and we just don't pay attention.
On our way back home, we stopped at a grocery store to get some food. We went home and watched a movie.
