Day 76 - Rome - Colosseum - The forum - Piazza del Campidoglio - Piazza Navona
Saturday, September 15, 2018.
We tried to get up at 7:30 to do some school but couldn't. We got up at 9:00am and had a late start. This always happens the next day we arrive in a city. We are normally tired and disoriented, plus we went to bed at midnight! We left the house by 10:00 and took the bus to the Colosseum. Wow, it was so impressive. The bummer is that the line was super long and it was extremely hot. We took turns in the line and the others sat on the shade. After an hour and a half, we finally got in. It was definitely worth the wait and the money! We spend a good amount of time exploring the Colosseum and listening to tours that we didn't pay for.
After that, we went to Carrefour to grab lunch and sat in front of the Colosseum to eat. Then we went to the Forum, with the same ticket and wow, what a magnificent city Rome must have been!
After the Forum, we walked up the hill to the Capitolio and admire the piazza that Michelangelo designed. We sat on the stairs for a while until we decided that it was time to go home and rest. The sun is just so hot. We waited for our bus for half an hour and then Gregory took us to another stop to take a different bus that would take us home. We came home, I napped while the rest relaxed with their electronics, Gregory with the books in the house. After dinner, we went out to Piazza Nova and admired Bernini's fountains. It was so alive, people playing a different kind of music, people dancing, others selling of sort of stuff to tourists, people having dinner. We just sat there and talked. Gregory came back to life, he just loves big cities, I don't. After walking around the neighborhood, we took the bus back to Piazza Republica, which is near our apartment and we went out for coffee and gelato of course! We had a great day!
