Day 53 - Marseille - Nice
Thursday Agust 23, 2018.
Our friend Virginie took us to the bus station to take the 10:00am bus to Nice. We had a great time in Marseille and the kids are already saying that it was their favorite place so far. I was ver happy to reconnect with Virginie and family. It has always been important to me to stay in touch with good friends around the world. MERCI BEAUCOUP ma chere amie Virginie, je t' aime bien!
The bus ride to Nice was only 2 1/2 hours, too short. I only had time to write the blog and take a short nap. We are starting to like the day we travel because it is our downtime. When we got to Nice, Gregory called an uber to take us to our new home which building was called Lylania, which sound like my name. When we got there, we found the hidden key but I guess our host forgot to tell us the number of the apartment. This is little details that you forget but that is important, especially when you just want to get settled in your new home. Luckily, the owner told us that it was on the first floor, which was also a good news for us who have to carry heavy suitcases. He still didn't tell us the number but fortunately, there were only two apartments so it was easy to guess.
Our new place was nice and spacious but unfortunately, the cleaning lady was coming at 7:00pm. We decided to rest a little and then find a grocery store to get us started. We found our traditional Carrefour, got our basics and walked back home. We had dinner and then we decided to leave the house to see the old town of Nice. Gregory had lived here for almost a year when he was a student, so he knew his way pretty well. I had been in Nice but I only remember the pebbled beach and the Promenade des Anglais.
We took the tram and we made it to downtown which was alive, full of tourists! We walked and Gregory showed us where he lived first when he was a student. He was so proud to show us around. Later at night, we sat in the Promenade des Anglais to watch the almost full moon. We returned home around 11:00am to a clean house.
