Day 47 - Calanque Morgiou
Friday, August 17, 2018.
Today we set up the alarm at 8:00am, which meant that we had something to do. Gregory had his appointment at the doctor's to get his shots for Africa. Our friend Virginie made his appointment a month ago and luckily he remembered it. I decided to go with him to see if I could get my Hepatitis A shot. I couldn't get the second one in the US because we had to come to our world tour and you are supposed to wait a certain amount of time after the first one.
of course, Gregory had figured out how to get there before our friend explained to him which bus to take. Lucky for me, he is very oriented and we walked to the bus station with plenty of time because we were warned that because it was August, the bus was normally off schedule. It took us almost an hour to get there, but with Gregory and google maps, we made it on time. The staff at the International center of vaccines were super friendly. Everyone wanted to talk to us, so they took their time, asking us questions and chatting about how different life is in America and in France. Our doctor was a young black man who spoke English, Spanish and of course French. He started in French but when I couldn't understand everything, he switched to English. Bummer, I wanted to practice! Anyway, I got my only shot and Gregory got his multiple shots for Africa. We got a lot of recommendations for our trip and then we left.
I really don't know how Gregory figures out how to go from one point to another so quickly. It would normally take me a while, but in no time, we were taking the metro, then the bus and then walking up the hill to get home. When we arrive, all the kids were waiting for us to go to their aunt's beach house in the Calanque. They had explained to us that it is a beautiful and exclusive place to go. We put our swimsuits on and prepared lunch and got ready to go.
We got the Calanque by 1:00pm. Gregory drove Virginie's parent's car through a narrow road, again, I don't know how he does it! I truly believe that he likes challenge after challenge! We had to stop ever so often to let the car in the opposite direction pass!
After meeting her big family, we went down the path to find a small and gorgeous pebble beach. We settled, went in the clear, cold water and had lunch. We spent a good amount of time relaxing and enjoying ourselves. Around 4:00pm, Virginie came to get us to take us on a boat ride. We were all excited to go deep in the sea. The ride lasted for a little bit, and then we stopped to swim far out in the water, far from the beach. Sunshine jumped off the boat right away, but I was scared at first, imagining all sorts of creatures underwater. I was able to relax afterward and saw some fish because they had brought snorkels.
We came back to the beach house, too soon according to Daniel, who wanted to continue the fun on the boat. We sat there for a while, chatted with the family, and then we decided to come home mostly because we were all tired. We were invited to stay for dinner but it was 7:00pm and we were all ready to rest. Antoine was happy that we were coming home so he wouldn't have to wait for his mom to leave, and we were becausesue he was our GPS!
We made it home, took a shower and had a late dinner of pasta and salad, Daniel's favorite!
