Day 5 - Lisbon by trolley

Today we all woke up late. We were so tired that we decided to take it easy and continue exploring the city. We had a late breakfast, caught up on emails and for me, the blog. I also did some laundry! Did I mention that the house came with a washing machine?! I was so thrilled especially because a lot of people had warned me how hard it was going to be to wash our clothes. Of course, I had to figure it out how to use the washing machine since it is an old model. I asked Sunshine to help by getting the clothes out of the machine once it stopped but when she opened the door, a tsunami of soapy water came out of the machine! Gregory and I screamed: "close it!" I guess I selected the button to leave the clothes soaking in water. That tells you how little I know about washing clothes, I didn't even know that was an option. After that, I had to mop the whole kitchen, thank God we didn't drown.

We left home around noon and we walked to the trolley stop. It was very pleasant seeing Lisbon in the trolley except for the loud Indian ladies who were having a blast! I'm sure we Mexicans sound like that when we are with a large group having fun! Everyone was staring at them, but they didn't care. We got out at the end of the stop and mostly because the trolley driver made us. It seemed that we were in the middle of nowhere so we sat in a small park to watched pigeons. We ate in a small and tasty restaurant called Lisbon cafe. We even had soda! I know, all the Mexicans are thinking: "that's normal", well not for my healthy husband who thinks soda is poison! After that, Sunshine and I wanted to walk but it was too hot and we were too far from home. We took an Uber to the Plaza, where they had a huge screen with speakers for everyone to watch the Fifa world cup. It was so much fun seeing so many people drinking, dancing and just having a good time. I noticed that a lot of people are wearing the Brazil t-shirts, seems to be in style. Sunshine wants to buy one.
We sat in the shade to watch the game- France vs Uruguay. Did I mentioned that I sunburned yesterday at the beach, me with my Mexican tan skin! Not fun and of course, I didn't pack aloe vera. After that, everyone voted to go home. I don't know why we were so tired. We walked through the crowds, bought Sunshine a pair of sunglasses, she forgot hers, bought some postcards and stamps and headed home. The kids stayed home while Gregory and I ran to the grocery store to get dinner and lunch for tomorrow. Gregory went out to the Masonic Lodge meeting and out for dinner. I'm still waiting for him to come back. Life starts late and finishes late at Lisbon. The kids have been going to bed between 10:00 and 11:30pm, no wonder we are all tired. I know in Spain will be the same situation since people start having dinner late like here. Right now is ok because we are on vacations but in September I will have to be more strict with schedules.
Castelo San Jorge behind!

Our street.
