Day 356 - Day at the hotel

Friday, June 28th, 2019

Today we didn’t do anything special. We felt lazy and stayed all day at the hotel. We swam, read, napped, etc. We didn’t even want to go out for dinner. We had noodle soups that we had bought in a convenience store for dinner.

Gregory did go out with the masons. They took him out for dinner and he came back happy. He said he had a good time and got to know more about the life of the Philiphinos.

Day 309 - Lunch with Gregory’s friend Axel - River Bus - Golden Mount Temple

Sunday, May 12, 2019. After last night's adventure, we told the kids they could sleep in today. Around noon, Gregory and I went to meet Axel, an old German friend of Gregory's. We had a delicious lunch at Coffee Beans by Dao. We had a lovely time chatting until 3:00pm when the waiter told us that they wanted to close the restaurant. Axel drove us back to our hotel and we promised to get together next time with his wife and daughter, who is two years older than Sunshine. The kids had a wonderful time resting in the room and went out for lunch on their own. They are so aware of their expenses, they told us that a bottle of water cost 60 THB at the restaurant, and in the market, it cost 10! So Daniel went to the 7/Eleven and bought a bottle there. Day 277 - Mandalay Palace and Su Taung Pyae Pagoda on Mandalay Hill

Wednesday, April 10th, 2019. Today we had breakfast on the top floor of our hotel. I eat whatever there is, but I’m still not thrilled with rice, noodles or fried vegetables in the morning. The kids eat their American breakfast of eggs, toast, and watermelon. Gregory and I try almost everything, except the soup. After breakfast, the kids went downstairs to get some homework done while Gregory and I went looking for antimalaria medicine. We first walked to a small clinic and we were surprised to talk to a female doctor who spoke English. She told us that it would be better to prevent it than to buy the antimalarial. She directed us to the Pharmacy across the street that looks more promising than the ones we had seen in Ngwe Saung or in Bagan. Luckily for us, there was a little girl who spoke English.
