Day 318 - Vang Vieng, Laos.
Tuesday, May 21st, 2019
Today we enjoyed a lazy day in Vang Vieng. I think we all had enough sun yesterday and no one wanted to leave the rooms. We got tan and sunburned even with sunscreen and hats on. We decided to enjoy ourselves indoors and get some writing and homework done. The only thing we did was go out for late lunch/early dinner at the same restaurant we went to last night. We sat at a high table with no chairs, instead it had cushions and we sat on those. It was still very hot and the host turned two of the fans on! We had delicious green curry with steamed rice!
On our way out, we saw Teresa walking down the street. She is a German girl we met last night. She told us that they didn’t do anything that day and that she was going to Luang Prabang with Michael and Claude, the Lebanese men we had dinner with last night! We told her that we had the same plan as well. Who knows we might be in the same van. We didn’t say goodbye because we knew we would meet her again.
After late lunch or early dinner, we walked around town looking for a place where Sunshine could get waxed. We also wanted to find a t-shirt for Daniel but the market was still being set up at that time. We also walked to check out a bar that Gregory had wanted to go to because it sounded cool, a bar with a bonfire and music. Well, when we got there, it was empty. We only saw one foreigner. We walked back to our hotel.
I was expecting a cute town but really Vang Vieng is a small village with bars and restaurants and many tour offices. I did not like the town because it really seemed like a party zone for young travelers. The beauty of the place is the nature, the river, the vegetation, the caves, and the lagoons. We were happy that we had the chance to visit one lagoon and one cave and even though there are many more, we were not interested in seeing them all. We would have left today if we hadn’t been so tired from yesterday.

Not even, we just wanted another day to hang out, but we will be leaving tomorrow. We bought tickets for a minivan that will take us from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang for 80 000 kips which is the equivalent of $9.19. I like to write the prices from time to time so we can remember later what things cost. We bought the tickets with the same guy that took us to the blue lagoon. The ticket at the hotel would have been 120, 000.
