Day 304 - Biking in Hoi An - Drinks at Lucky Leaf Villa

Tuesday, May 7th, 2019.

Today, Sunshine and I grabbed bikes and went shopping right after breakfast. I thought it would be cooler but when we parked our bikes and made it to the clothing stores, we were soaking with sweat! We walked around for a while. Most of the stores had cute dresses and fabrics because here in Hoi An many people are tailors! You can have whatever you want handmade and tailored to your size. But Sunshine and I preferred something already made. Sunshine found a cute and inexpensive dress. I, as usual, was hesitant with everything that I tried on.

We sat at a cafe-bar to enjoy a cold drink after we were done shopping. We normally end up exhausted and sometimes in a bad mood. Today it was ok. When we were enjoying our drink, we got a message from Gregory saying, “I found something for all of us to do”. It was noon by then and honestly, we didn’t want to have to drive for two hours to see the My Lai massacre memorial. He thought it would be interesting for Sunshine since she is studying the Vietnam war, but 2 hours of driving each way, no thanks. We biked back to the hotel and jumped in the pool. Well, I did. Sunshine refreshed and painted.

Later that day, we all biked out for dinner near a place where I had liked a dress. I had decided to buy it, mostly because we had Vietnamese money left. We had delicious Indian food and then went to buy my dress. We had enough change that I spoiled myself and got two cute dresses for $20. One dress had to be adjusted to my size. The tailor also fixed two of Sunshine's dresses for less than a dollar. Why can’t we have these prices in the US?

We biked back to our hotel where Kim, our hostess, was waiting. She wanted to invite us to town for drinks with Carolina and Pablo from Argentina who are staying at the hotel. The Argentinians wanted to stay and pack, so we changed the venue to our hotel. Kim made Gin & Tonic and we all chatted until 10:30. We said our good nights early because we are all leaving tomorrow morning at 8:00!

It was a good day with my girl. I love spending time with her. We didn’t do it much on this trip but I will have to remind myself to do it more often when we go back home.
