Day 283 - Last day in Myanmar- Flight to Vietnam

Tuesday, April 16th, 2019.

Today we got up late, went for breakfast and said goodbye to the new staff at our Hotel Vista. Everyone was so friendly and we gave them tips and they were even happier. At our rooms, we caught up with our writing and pretty much finished getting ready to check out at noon.

We left our suitcases at the front desk and then we went outside for lunch. We were careful not to get wet because we can't change our clothes and we have to go to the airport around 3:00pm. We could probably go later but since we don't have anything else to do and we all love spending time at the airport lounge!

Daniel found a Thai restaurant where we could eat. The food was delicious but the place was extremely hot. We stopped at a convenience store and bought more thanaka, the special powder so we can sell it in the US. Gregory is always thinking about how to make money. On our way back to the hotel, they wanted to get us wet but we screamed "no, please, we are leaving today" and they were very respectful and let us pass without drenching us. At one place they gave us a delicious green tea drink with rice noodles. We made it to our hotel dry, except for Sunshine -- they did get her.

Gregory called Grab to take us to the airport. The ride was smooth, the lounge was super fancy and large. We were not expecting anything big but it was and it had a lot of food. We ate, we read, and just spent time waiting for our flight which ended up being an hour late. What's funny is there was a sign saying, "Let's all be on time" and the plane was not on time. We took off at 7:50pm and made it to Hanoi at 10:00pm. Normally I would have been nervous arriving in a completely different country at that time but I was calm because Gregory had everything figured out and we were staying the first nights in a hotel!

Vietnam also has Grab so in no time, we were in a taxi on our way to our hotel called Lele and Frog, a cute boutique hotel in the Old Quarter.
When the taxi dropped us in a busy street and told us that no cars were allowed in, I got a little nervous, but then when we started to walk through a pedestrian street lined with restaurants and bars and saw some Westerners, I relaxed.

We wheeled our suitcases, checked in and went to bed at midnight!

Bye bye, Myanmar!
These flowers were used as decorations everywhere for the Water Festival

That's the only picture I took.
