Day 248 - Last day in Rishikesh -Flight to Jaipur

Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

Today, we woke up to no electricity or hot water. Last night there was a big storm and the host informed us that many electricity posts were down. He felt awful because yesterday we didn't have hot water either, and he wanted his five-star review. Poor Ravi, he worked so hard and he was devasted. We told him not to worry because there was nothing he could do about it.

Also, there were big leaks in the main room and Daniel's bedroom. Good thing we didn't come in monsoon season, and good thing we are leaving today. I have to point out that in many places, the day that we are leaving, something goes wrong or doesn't work. In Ethiopia, no water, in India, no hot water, it's kind of a sign that it is time to leave that place.

We played ping pong to kill time until our uber came to take us to the airport. We didn't think about ordering food to go. I wish we had because there weren't many options at the airport. Things went smoothly, except that the plane was a little bit late, but we still got to Jaipur on time. The airport was small and clean and it wasn't crowded. We took an uber to our hotel which was disappointing, I mean, it was okay, but in the pictures, it looked pretty nice. It was a three-star hotel so what can you expect. But it didn't matter because we are only spending the night here and taking an early flight tomorrow to Udaipur.

Gregory did research and many people suggested going to Udaipur instead of Jaipur. Since we had the whole evening in Jaipur, we decided to spend a few hours exploring the pink city in Jaipur. Well, we really didn't cover that much of Jaipur because we were all tired. I really don't know why because we didn't do much today, but we had to stop (yes, had to) for sweet treats and fruit milkshakes.

Our uber driver dropped us off at one of the main attractions that we had to see, the:
Hawa Mahal a palace that it is constructed of red and pink sandstone. The palace sits on the edge of the City Palace, Jaipur, and extends to the zenana, or women's chambers. The structure was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. Wikipedia

The palace was beautiful, we took some pictures and walked around looking at the shops nearby. We stopped in a very fancy restaurant, mostly for me to use the restroom, but when Sunshine and I came out of the bathroom, Gregory and Daniel were already seated. We follow my mom's advice on ordering a drink and soup for dinner when you go to a very expensive place. I could tell that Gregory was not feeling well because he didn't eat anything, but it was nice to eat in a lovely restaurant with 5 waiters all waiting to serve you!

I'm sure if Gregory had felt better we would have covered another attraction, but instead, we waited outside for a while for our uber to come. We made it back to our hotel around 9:00pm and I took a nice, long hot shower. We finally had a shower with doors, and the water was hot!

Good night!
