Day 236 - Dubai to New Delhi

Wednesday, February 27th, 2019.

Hello blog readers, Sunshine here! I thought you might enjoy a change of perspective. Well it just so happens this day is the day we leave Dubai. 6 days in Dubai probably seems like a nice perfect vacation to you, but after 3 months in Africa and getting ready for 3 weeks in India, our stay seemed quite short. Anyways, we got up early (which was nearly impossible because of the slight time change from Tanzania) and had a light breakfast.

After that, we were outta there and at the airport. Let me tell you, the Dubai departure area is not nearly as nice as the arrival one. You wouldn’t believe the arrival zone, big shiny pillars, fountains, clocks on every wall with the Rolex logo! But the way out was like any other airport, with oh so charming fluorescent lights and cranky security who have issues with swiss army knives. But after security, we went to the lounge, and oh baby! The buffet was great. 10/10 would recommend the breakfast apple crumble if you ever happen to be there.

We hung out there, Daniel and I did some schoolwork (boring) and my parents did parent stuff like research but we won’t get into that because you probably don’t care. So we ate lots and lots of yummy food and then got out of there and on the plane. I don’t think I have ever seen so many Indian people at the same time. It seemed like every head on the plane was wobbling!

They served some delicious curry (I know you’re probably thinking, how can they eat so much food in such a short amount of time? Well I’m also thinking that!) and they also had a wide variety of Bollywood movies (and a few Hollywood ones too) so we arrived in what felt like the blink of an eye. The airport was not that crowded, and customs was pretty much empty, so that was a pleasant surprise. Especially because all you ever hear about India and specifically Delhi is that is so crowded and overpopulated.

We got an Uber, who popped two of our bags onto the roof of his car and headed out onto the road without tying them on or anything. As you can imagine, my mom was not happy about this, in fact she was very nervous. Maybe because of all her praying in Spanish, or maybe just because of the driver’s decent driving, we made it to the Airbnb with our suitcases intact. We arrived, had some little snacks (yup, STILL eating, we were so hungry after all that eating) and then went to sleep on our rock hard new beds.
