Day 118 - Prishtina, Kosovo
Sunday, October 29, 2018
t was a very long bus ride but we finally made it to Prishtina in Kosovo at 10:00am. Yikes, it took us 12 hours to make it here! The bus station wasn't great, kind of empty and then I realized it was Sunday! We took a taxi to our apartment which luckily was ready because previously, the lady had emailed Gregory saying that it was occupied and that we were going to have to wait.
The apartment is very nice and modern. It felt so good to take a shower. Did I mention that on Airbnb one of the amenities listed was that it had hot water 24/7? If they had to add that, I can not imagine how the other apartments are. We had our bus snacks for breakfast: nuts and fruit and then we took a nap for a few hours.
After resting, we walked around our neighborhood. I have to say that I felt like walking in the poor streets of Mexico and I wasn't sure what we were doing here. Of course, I was hungry. We found a small restaurant where we had a yummy kebab dish for 2 euros! We all felt better and then we went on the mission of looking for a grocery store! We found a store where they displayed the fruit and vegetables very nicely. It was all orderly and clean. We got basics for dinner and breakfast. We are probably going to eat out a lot since food is good and inexpensive, definitely cheaper than Croatia!
We walked the kids back home and then Gregory and I walked to the pedestrian zone. I was a little nervous because the narrow streets twisted and turned, some of them were empty but then, we found the main street which is called Mother Theresa Road. It is all surrounded by modern stores, cafes, and restaurants and apparently that's all there is to see. We sat and had coffee in a cool place called Half and Half, then we walked back home, had dinner and watched Beetlejuice, an excellent movie for Halloween spirit.

Cafe Half and Half |
Glass jars and bottles with light bulbs are what they hang for lights. It looked very cool! Fast Wifi, menu all in English on a chalkboard, communal laptop table -- just like home! |
Yummy! |
