Day 1- Lisbon / Dia 1 Lisbon
I realized, I'm already behind a day so I better get started. Yesterday we landed in Portugal at 6:00am. Everything went fine and smooth. We went through customs really fast and picked up our suitcases. Then we looked at each other and said: now what? Is not even 7:00am and my husband just informed me that our house would be ready by 11:30am! We waited in a "padaria" drinking coffee for an hour and a half and then we took an uber to downtown to a cafe close to we were staying. We order warm drinks since it was chilly and rainy. AT that time, all I could think was: "I want my bed." Across the coffee place, there was an old library that opened at 10:00am. Finally, when they opened, we ran there and we immediately felt at home. It looked like a Harry Potter library, old-fashioned, all made of wood and with stairs to reach for the books. We took out our books and read for an hour. At 11:00am, I went outside to check on Gregory who was sitting in the cafe with our luggage and told me that our place was ready! I went back to the library to tell the kids. We took our duffle bags and we start them rolling in the cobblestone up the street to our apartment. We met the landlord who gave us all sort of directions but I wasn't really listening, all I wanted was to take a shower and go to sleep, which we did. Around 5:30 pm, we woke up and decided to wake up the kids so they would sleep at night. We got ready to find a supermarket. Walking distance, we found a mini market where we bought some basics. I have to say that the prices are better than Trader Joes. Part of the groceries store smelled like fish, like many other places we walked by. We came back, unpacked and Daniel suggested to stay "home" and eat pizza and salad. We fed the kids and then Gregory and I left to have dinner by ourselves. We saw a lot of Chinese, Indian and kebab restaurants. We saw a lot of men walking and talking outside but definitely no women. It was like the Indian neighborhood. We ended up eating Pho pu. It is funny to view the diversity of races. I thought I was used to since I live in the US but it is definitely different. We came home at 10:30pm and went to bed.
